In December 2021, the UAF Executive Committee approved the UAF Child Safeguarding Policy (under 18 years of age).
This policy confirms the desire of the Ukrainian Association of Football to create conditions for safe football and children’s participation in football-related activities, regardless of their age, gender, ethnicity, social origin, religion, ability or disability, etc.
Awareness-raising is the activity of informing and educating as many people as possible about a topic; in our case, about child and youth safeguarding in football. Through the dissemination of the awareness-raising materials, we wish to improve general understanding of the topic as well as to mobilise everyone to bring about the necessary changes in attitudes and behaviour. We also wish to empower those working with children and young people in football activities to protect their rights, and help prevent and respond to any form of harm or abuse.
On the occasion of the World Children’s Day, the French Football Federation announced the strengthening of its actions towards the protection of its two million licensees, including one million young people under the age of 18.

The Latvian Football Federation (LFF) in cooperation with UEFA and the children’s aid organisation Terre des hommes launched the “For Safe Football” project to strengthen child safeguarding in football. Within the project, the UEFA online courses dedicated to this topic were translated into Latvian.
Over the past six months, the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF) has participated in the UEFA child safeguarding mentoring programme. This pilot project, which was implemented with the support of the international children’s aid organisation Terre des hommes (Tdh), aims to support UAF in developing and strengthening child safeguarding in football in Ukraine.

The Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) is one of the eleven UEFA member associations that were selected to participate in the UEFA child safeguarding mentoring programme. UEFA and Terre des hommes (Tdh) launched the six-month long pilot programme in January 2021, aiming to individually support the national associations in their child safeguarding efforts and strengthen the existing safeguards.
Parents play an important role in their child’s sporting life, both when things are going well and by supporting them if something's wrong. The NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) has updated the information for parents on its website. Information provided includes: speaking out about worries that your child is being abused or put at risk during sports activities; how to spot abuse; making support safe; and supporting your child in sport.
The Football Association of Moldova (FAM) in partnership with Terre des hommes Moldova is implementing the project “SAFE FOOTBALL FOR CHILDREN IN MOLDOVA”, funded by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) under the UEFA Football and Social Responsibility Programme and the UEFA HatTrick Assistance Programme.
