This study provides an overview of the legal and policy frameworks, describes initiatives promoted by sport and civil society organisations, identifies best practice in combatting gender-based violence in sport and makes recommendations for future action.
The aim of this study is to provide an analytical overview of the types of sports related projects and interventions used to support the social inclusion of migrants and to identify best practice in their design, implementation and measurement. The study used a literature review, stakeholder interviews and an analysis of the key strengths and success factors of relevant projects based on a typology.
An expert group (XG) on Good Governance was set up in 2015 to produce recommendations on this key topic. The XG held its first meeting on 16 October 20214 and began its work on the protection of minors deliverable on 23 February 2016, followed by further discussions on 12 May and 14 July.

Included in the files is a note on the Channel 4 Dispatches programme that in 1997 exposed several instances of abuse in football.
The BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire programme speaks to former footballers Chris Unsworth, Jason Dunford, Steve Walters and Andy Woodward, who all claim to have been sexually abused by former coach Barry Bennell. Bennell, 62, was jailed in 1998 for sex offences against children and was imprisoned again last year. Crewe Alexandra and Manchester City - where Bennell worked as a coach - have begun internal investigations.

"Start to talk” is a Council of Europe call for action to public authorities and the sport movement to stop child sexual abuse. By joining this call, governments, sport clubs, associations and federations, as well as athletes and coaches, pledge to take concrete measures to prevent and respond to abuse.
